Syrian Leader to take part in COP30 climate summit in Belem, Brazil

(MENAFN) Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa is set to participate in the COP30 climate summit taking place in Belem, Brazil, from Nov. 6 to 21, according to official statements.

The presidency’s media office announced that Sharaa will make an official visit to Brazil on Nov. 6–7 to attend the global gathering, which will bring together numerous heads of state and government representatives.

According to the office, this marks the first occasion a Syrian leader has taken part in a UN climate conference since the series began in 1995.

After the summit, Sharaa is scheduled to travel to Washington, where he will hold talks with U.S. President Donald Trump.
